Big Bang Theory Star Johnny Galecki Incurs Significant Loss on California Ranch After Wildfire Devastation
Actor Johnny Galecki, known for 'The Big Bang Theory', incurred a substantial financial loss on his California ranch after wildfires destroyed parts of the property.

Hollywood actor Johnny Galecki, widely recognised for his role as Leonard Hofstadter in the popular sitcom The Big Bang Theory, experienced a significant financial setback years after investing in a sprawling property in California. In 2011, Galecki purchased a ranch, reportedly spending an estimated USD 1.5 million, which translates to over ₹10.5 crore at today's exchange rates, on the expansive estate.
The property, located in the scenic Santa Margarita area of California, was a substantial investment, boasting numerous modern amenities and considerable acreage. It was designed to offer a serene escape, reflecting the actor's personal taste and desire for a private residence amidst nature, away from the bustling city life.
However, tragedy struck in 2017 when devastating wildfires swept through the region. The inferno caused widespread destruction, and Galecki's ranch was not spared. The main house on his property, along with several other structures in the vicinity, was tragically engulfed by the blaze, leaving behind significant damage and rendering much of the estate uninhabitable.
Following the extensive damage, Galecki made the difficult decision to sell the ranch. He eventually listed and sold the property for USD 825,000, approximately ₹5.8 crore. This sale represented a considerable loss of nearly USD 675,000, or roughly ₹4.7 crore, from his initial investment, highlighting the unforeseen risks associated with property ownership, especially in fire-prone regions.
