Veteran academician and former president of the Delhi University Teachers' Association (DUTA), Dr. Aditya Narayan Mishra, has officially joined the Indian National Congress. His move comes as he voiced serious concerns over the prevailing state of education in the country, describing it as being in a significant crisis.

The formal induction ceremony took place in the national capital, witnessed by several senior party functionaries. Among those present were Qazi Nizamuddin, the Delhi Congress in-charge; Devender Yadav, President of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee; and Rajendra Pal Gautam, AICC in-charge for Uttar Pradesh. Their presence underscored the significance the party attaches to Dr. Mishra’s entry.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mishra reportedly articulated his decision to enter active politics as a step towards addressing the systemic challenges plaguing the education sector. He emphasised the urgent need for comprehensive reforms to safeguard the future of students and educators alike, suggesting that political engagement was crucial to effect meaningful change.

Dr. Mishra has a long-standing association with Delhi University, having served as the head of DUTA, an influential body representing the interests of university teachers.
