India currently possesses sufficient coal reserves to meet the nation's power demand for approximately 62 days, the Union Ministry of Coal announced, underscoring a strong position for the country's energy security. This healthy stock level is a critical indicator of the nation's preparedness to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply across various sectors.

The robust reserve position comes on the back of significant growth in domestic coal production and dispatches. In July, coal output witnessed a year-on-year increase of 7.51%. Concurrently, the volume of coal supplied to various power plants and other consuming sectors surged by an impressive 17.34% compared to the same period last year, indicating improved logistical efficiency and demand fulfilment.
