India's Jobless Rate Steady at 5.5%, But Women Face Growing Unemployment

India's national unemployment rate held steady at 5.5% in June, reflecting a consistent but challenging employment landscape. However, a deeper analysis of the figures reveals a concerning divergence in job market experiences between genders, with women encountering heightened difficulties in securing work.

For women, the jobless rate witnessed an uptick, reaching 5.9% during the month, signaling a tougher environment for female job seekers across the country. This increase aligns with a significant trend: the female labour force participation has now declined for the fourth consecutive month.
