JD(S) Leader Kumaraswamy Alleges Electoral Roll Irregularities in Karnataka, Plans ECI Appeal

Former Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has raised serious concerns regarding alleged irregularities during the ongoing Special Summary Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the Yeshwanthpur assembly constituency. The Janata Dal (Secular) leader announced his intention to formally approach the Election Commission of India (ECI) to address these purported violations.

Mr. Kumaraswamy specifically claimed that officials involved in the electoral revision process were acting under the influence of the local Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), rather than adhering strictly to the guidelines and procedures laid down by the ECI. He suggested that these deviations could compromise the integrity of the voter list.

To substantiate his accusations, the JD(S) leader released several videos which, he asserted, depicted instances of these alleged procedural breaches. While the specifics of the video content were not detailed, they are presented as evidence of the purported misconduct during the SIR exercise.

The Special Summary Revision is a crucial exercise undertaken periodically by the ECI to update voter lists, ensuring accuracy and inclusivity by adding new eligible voters and removing deceased or shifted electors. Kumaraswamy's move to escalate the matter to the ECI underscores the seriousness with which his party views these alleged discrepancies, aiming to ensure a fair and transparent electoral process in the state.
