Jharkhand LoP Accuses Soren Govt. of Shielding Influential Figures in Job Exam Probe, Demands CBI Inquiry
Jharkhand LoP Babulal Marandi has accused the Soren-led government of protecting influential individuals in the job exam irregularities probe, demanding a CBI inquiry.

Jharkhand's Leader of Opposition (LoP), Babulal Marandi, has sharply criticised the state's ruling coalition, led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, alleging that it is actively shielding powerful individuals implicated in the ongoing probe into irregularities concerning government job examinations. Mr. Marandi, a prominent BJP leader, demanded an immediate recommendation for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the matter, expressing a lack of faith in the current Criminal Investigation Department (CID) investigation.
Addressing the media, Mr. Marandi contended that the state's investigative agency was deliberately failing to pursue leads against those with significant influence, thereby undermining the integrity of the examination process. He highlighted the widespread frustration among the state's unemployed youth, who he claimed were being denied fair opportunities due to a compromised system. The LoP's remarks come amidst growing concerns over transparency in public recruitment drives within Jharkhand.
The allegations pertain to a series of examinations conducted for various government positions, which have been plagued by claims of question paper leaks and other malpractices. The CID had initiated a probe into these complaints following public outcry and protests from student organisations. However, Mr. Marandi suggested that the state government's approach to the investigation appeared to be aimed at damage control rather than ensuring complete justice.
Furthermore, Mr. Marandi issued a stern warning to Chief Minister Soren, urging him not to provoke students and job aspirants into resuming street protests. He emphasised that the youth of Jharkhand had already demonstrated their collective anger over these issues in the past and would not hesitate to do so again if their demands for a fair and impartial investigation were not met. The BJP leader reiterated that only a CBI probe could restore public trust and ensure accountability.
This political development underscores the persistent challenges faced by the Jharkhand administration in ensuring transparent and equitable recruitment processes, a critical issue for a state with a significant young population seeking government employment.
