Pakistan's Request to Shift Asian Champions Trophy Matches from India Rejected

The Pakistan Hockey Federation's appeal to have its matches shifted from India during the forthcoming Asian Champions Trophy has been firmly rejected by Hockey India. The prestigious continental tournament is scheduled to take place across two venues in Punjab – Mohali and Jalandhar – from October 27 to November 5 this year.

Reports suggest that the Pakistan Hockey Federation had formally approached the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) with a request to alter the venues specifically for their contingent's fixtures. While the precise reasons behind this appeal were not publicly disclosed, it aimed at relocating their games from the Indian host cities.

Responding decisively to the request, Mr. Bhola Nath Singh, Secretary General of Hockey India, unequivocally stated that there would be no changes to the pre-decided schedule or locations. "There won't be any change in venue for the tournament," Mr. Singh affirmed, putting an end to any speculation regarding potential last-minute adjustments to the tournament's logistics.

The Asian Champions Trophy is a crucial event in the Asian hockey calendar, bringing together top teams from the continent to vie for supremacy. India, as the host nation, is actively preparing to welcome all participating teams, including arch-rivals Pakistan, for what promises to be an exciting display of hockey talent. The confirmation of venues ensures that preparations in Mohali and Jalandhar will proceed without any last-minute logistical complications, upholding the tournament's established framework.

This firm decision by Hockey India underscores its commitment to hosting the tournament as planned and maintaining the integrity of the international sporting calendar. It ensures fair play and adherence to established schedules for major events, providing clarity for all participating nations as the competition draws closer.
