Rahul Gandhi's 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' Event in Prayagraj Cancelled

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's anticipated 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' event in Prayagraj has been called off after the K.P. Trust, which manages the designated venue, revoked permission. The programme was scheduled to take place at the K.P. College ground, aiming to engage with students and youth.

The trust cited dual reasons for its decision to withdraw permission. Primarily, it highlighted prevailing waterlogging issues at the ground, rendering it unsuitable for a large public gathering. Additionally, the trust referenced a directive from the High Court, which reportedly restricts the K.P. College ground's use exclusively to sports and educational activities, prohibiting its utilisation for other purposes.

This cancellation comes amidst Mr. Gandhi's active engagement with various segments of society, particularly students and youth, across different parts of the country. The 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' initiative was expected to be a platform for interaction with students in the politically significant state of Uttar Pradesh, where the Congress party is working to strengthen its presence.

While the immediate impact is the postponement or relocation of the event, the development underscores challenges in securing suitable venues for political rallies, especially in regions prone to monsoon-related issues and strict regulatory oversight. There has been no immediate announcement regarding an alternative date or venue for the programme from the Congress party.
