Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra's Privacy Display Set for Enhanced Functionality with One UI 9 Beta

Samsung is rolling out an important enhancement to its Privacy Display feature within the One UI 9 beta for the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra. This update aims to provide users with more granular control and an improved multitasking experience, particularly when handling sensitive content.

The Privacy Display functionality is designed to obscure screen content from onlookers, making it ideal for viewing personal information or media in public spaces. Typically, when activated for a specific application, it would apply a privacy filter to that app's interface, reducing visibility for anyone not directly viewing the screen.

The latest beta iteration introduces a crucial refinement concerning Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode. Previously, if the Privacy Display was enabled for an application, such as YouTube, and a video from that app was minimised into a floating PiP window, the privacy effect might have inadvertently extended beyond the PiP frame, potentially impacting the visibility of the entire home screen or other open applications.

With the One UI 9 beta, this behaviour has been rectified. Now, when a user activates Privacy Display for an app and then minimises its content into a PiP window, the privacy filter will be strictly confined to that floating PiP player. The rest of the smartphone's interface, including the home screen and any background apps, will remain fully visible and operational, ensuring an unobstructed user experience.

This targeted improvement significantly boosts the practicality of the Privacy Display feature, especially for Indian users who often juggle multiple tasks on their devices while prioritising data security and personal viewing. It allows for seamless private video consumption via PiP without compromising the usability of the rest of the device, marking a thoughtful upgrade for high-end Samsung smartphone owners.
