Vivo Unveils G5i and G5z Smartphones in China with Robust Battery, Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo has officially introduced two new devices, the Vivo G5i and Vivo G5z, in its home market. Both smartphones share identical specifications, positioning them as mid-range contenders with a focus on powerful performance and extended battery life. While currently exclusive to China, their feature set could appeal to a broader global audience, including India, should they launch in other regions.

At the core of both the G5i and G5z is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, designed to offer efficient performance for everyday tasks and moderate gaming. This is complemented by ample memory and storage options, with configurations available boasting up to 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage, ensuring smooth multitasking and quick app loading times. Visuals are handled by a generous 6.75-inch LCD screen, which supports a fluid 120Hz refresh rate for a more responsive user experience.

For photography enthusiasts, the new Vivo models come equipped with a 50-megapixel primary camera on the rear. A standout feature across both devices is their substantial 7,200mAh battery, promising extensive usage on a single charge. This large battery is further supported by 44W fast charging technology, allowing users to quickly replenish power when needed.

The Vivo G5i and G5z also incorporate several other notable features. They include stereo speakers for an enhanced audio experience, NFC for convenient contactless payments, and robust IP68 and IP69 ratings, signifying strong resistance against dust and water ingress. On the software front, the phones run on OriginOS 6, which is built upon the latest Android 16 operating system.

Pricing for the Vivo G5i and G5z begins at CNY 2,199 in China. This translates to approximately ₹30,900 based on current exchange rates, making them a competitive offering in their segment. While there has been no official announcement regarding their availability in the Indian market, Vivo's strong presence and frequent product launches in India suggest that similar models or these very devices could potentially arrive for Indian consumers in the future, offering compelling choices for those prioritising battery longevity and solid specifications.
