Aparna Sen Expresses Solidarity with NEET Protesters at Jantar Mantar
Veteran filmmaker Aparna Sen was visibly moved while observing students protesting alleged NEET exam irregularities at Jantar Mantar, praising their courage and condemning police action.

Renowned Indian filmmaker Aparna Sen recently expressed profound emotional support for students demonstrating against alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) examination. Witnessing the ongoing protests at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, Sen lauded the young participants for their "brave and courageous" stand, highlighting their peaceful and constitutionally protected right to dissent.
Sen strongly endorsed the students' approach of non-violent protest, emphasising its importance in a democratic society. She voiced severe criticism regarding reports of police action against the unarmed youth, asserting that such measures were unwarranted given the peaceful nature of their agitation. Her presence brought a significant voice of support to the student movement, which seeks accountability and justice regarding the examination process.
The demonstrations, organised primarily by the Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP), have been active for approximately two weeks, drawing attention to a range of concerns surrounding the NEET exam, including alleged paper leaks and discrepancies in results. These protests underscore a growing nationwide sentiment among students and parents demanding transparency and fairness in crucial entrance examinations.
Beyond Sen's recent visit, the Jantar Mantar site has seen a continuous stream of activists and concerned citizens. Notably, education reformist Sonam Wangchuk also participated through a hunger strike, further amplifying the calls for governmental intervention and a thorough investigation. The protests have, at times, led to confrontations, including reports of clashes during a planned march towards Parliament House, underscoring the intensity of the student-led movement.
