Bengaluru is set to host the prestigious Obaid Siddiqi lectures this July, featuring Dr. Samira Sheikh, a distinguished historian of South Asia. The annual event honours the legacy of Professor Obaid Siddiqi, a pioneering Indian geneticist and the founder-director of the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) in the city.
Dr. Sheikh, an Associate Professor of History at Vanderbilt University, currently holds the fifth Obaid Siddiqi Chair at the NCBS Archives. Her expertise lies in the history of South Asia, bringing a unique perspective to a lecture series often associated with scientific discourse, reflecting Professor Siddiqi’s broad intellectual interests.
